Hey there, fellow golf enthusiasts and friends!
I'm Shiksha Jain, and I wanted to share my recent experience from the prestigious IGU Eastern India Ladies and Junior Girls Championship that took place at the famous Tollygunge Golf Club in Kolkata.
If someone had told the younger version of me, who first swung a club at Jaipur's Rambagh Golf Course just five years ago, that I'd be standing here with a medal from such a respected national tournament, I might've chuckled in disbelief. But here we are.
Over the course of the four-day tournament, I played alongside and against some incredibly talented individuals. More than 100 players from different parts of our vast nation participated, each one with the hope and determination of emerging as a winner. And in the midst of such intense competition, I managed to secure the second position with a score of 238. This, for me, isn't just a score, but a testimony to the hours, sweat, and dedication I've poured into the game I so deeply love.
But let me take you a step back and share a bit of my journey so far. Over the years, my trophy cabinet has slowly but steadily started to fill. With over 51 medals, including titles from international tournaments such as the US Kids Golden Green, JP Green Viston, and the Junior Winter Golf Carnival in California, I've tasted victory across different soils. Each medal carries a memory, a lesson, and a reminder that dreams, paired with determination, do come true.
Yet, every victory, every accolade, brings me closer to a dream that's bigger than any tournament or medal – representing India at the Olympics. Yes, you heard it right! My ultimate dream is to clinch gold for our nation in the 2028 Olympics. It's a tall order and a dream that requires immense hard work. And that's why I spend nearly half of my day – a staggering ten to twelve hours – practicing and refining my skills. Golf isn't just about perfect swings; it's about the mind, body, and spirit. This is why my training regimen includes a mix of coaching, fitness routines, and yoga.
The road ahead is long, but I'm up for the challenge. Each tournament, including the recent one in Kolkata, is a stepping stone towards that Olympic podium. So, I invite you to join me on this journey. Through the highs and lows, through victories and lessons, let's chase that gold together!
Sending lots of love and positivity, Shiksha Jain ๐๐️♀️๐
